The Shape of Home:Stories of Arrival and Encounter
"The Shape of Home" aims to deepen and expand the understanding of the concept of "home" through the development of a public art project. Starting from the individual, it extends to family members, community relationships, and further connects to neighborhoods, environments, and urban systems. This project seeks to reveal the multi-dimensional aspects of "home" as a collection of emotions, memories, identity, and culture.
The project consists of five parts: contextual research, participatory art activities, permanent art installations, educational promotion, and participatory visual narratives. It includes historical research, timeline documentation, map drawing, visual design, artistic creation, spatial installation, material experimentation, interactive performances, and participatory workshop outcomes. These diverse approaches bring together local elders, scholars, artists, community members, residents, students, and others to co-create the connections of "home" through art participation.
The project deeply explores the history, geography, culture, and natural environment of these areas, investigating the elements that shape the local identity and residents' lifestyles. This not only provides rich creative materials for art participation but also offers the public an opportunity to deeply understand the stories behind their living spaces.
